Wide open spaces, nature and the heritage of Africa, the San (First people) awaits us in the beautiful setting of the West Coast. Be on the lookout for a variety of wildlife such as antelope, ostrich and zebra. Our nature cycle is followed by a tour of the cultural centre where we meet San decedents and enjoy a guided cultural experience that will touch your heart and evoke your senses. If you are looking for a mix of mountain biking, wildlife viewing, and South African history then this is the tour for you.
The reserve and San Centre is one hour’s drive from Cape Town on the stunning West Coast. Sweeping views, a cycle in nature on purpose built tracks and a unique guided tour of the San Heritage Centre await. The !Khwa ttu San Centre gives us the possibility to learn about the fascinating and complex history of the San and their often hostile interactions with the first African tribes and European settlers. After the ride, we enjoy a hearty lunch at !Khwa ttu’s restaurant. We then set out on a walk with our San guide who shares with us insights into the culture of their people. This will include demonstrations of tracking – a skill San are particularly good at, bow and arrow demonstration, “gathering” scents and knowledge in their medicinal garden and a visit to a replica San village.
