| The
new Rhone Bike Trail could easily be named the Wine Bike Trail because this bike
tour leads through the best vineyards of Switzerland. It starts in Oberwald /
Goms 1500 metres above sea level in an alpine landscape. Here you will find small
villages whose weather-beaten chalets have become dark-brown from years of wind
and sun. Soon after passing Brig vineyards appear and along the tour you will
hear and see famous names like Fendant, Johannisberg, Aigle, Epesses and Lavaux.
The Rhone Bike Trail does not only follow the river valley; you can also take
attractive diversions by mountain railway up to Bettmeralp (optional), or up to
Crans Montana for an overnight stay, or up to Mont Pélérin with
amazing views over Lake Geneva and into the Savoy Highalps. You will be inspired
by the special way of life in the French part of Switzerland in famous places
like Sion, Montreux, Lausanne and Morges. The Rhone Bike Trail ends in the international
metropolis Geneva, where the Rhone leaves Switzerland. | Ref:
